La Verdi in Milan offers three Soundtracks Live! programs

June 10, 2016 The brilliant Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi (commonly known as La Verdi) has programmed three Soundtracks Live! concert programs for six summer concerts in late July-early August, 2016. The orchestra will perform the Superhero Symphony (including the world concert premiere of Blake Neely’s The Flash), A Tribute to Alfred Hitchcock and the Space Symphony (featuring the world concert premiere of a brand new 12 minute suite from Jerry Goldsmith’s seminal Total Recall score).

Carter Burwell concert in the works

August 30, 2015 Soundtracks Live! returns to the Middleburg Film Festival after 2014’s success with the concert in tribute of composer Marco Beltrami. This year’s recipient of the ‘Distinguished Film Composer Award’, Carter Burwell, will have his music performed in concert for the first time with Soundtracks Live! doing new arrangements (including the world premiere of the ‘Coen Brothers Suite’), coordinating repertoire and music preparation. The concert takes place with the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra on the podium during the festival which runs on October 22-25.

June 29, 2015 Soundtracks Live! was hired to produce the music for a special concert event in Puente Genil in the province of Córdoba, Spain, featuring music from films shot on location in the province. Program included scores such as Lawrence of Arabia (Maurice Jarre), Kingdom of Heaven (Harry Gregson-Williams) and Entrelobos (Klaus Badelt). Juan Manuel Parra conducted the Orquesta de Córdoba with special guest star Oscar Navarro conducting his own suite from La Mula.

Film music a “cash cow” for orchestras

April 28, 2015 Soundtracks Live!’s artistic director Mikael Carlsson is currently working on a brand new 25th anniversary concert suite of Jerry Goldsmith’s legendary 1990 sci-fi action score Total Recall, to be available for rental later this year and also featured as part of the Soundtracks Live! programs ‘Soundtrack Legends: Jerry Goldsmith’ and ‘Soundtrack Special: Space Symphony’.

Soundtracks Live! at Oviedo Film Music Live

January 31, 2015 A new major film music event in Spain, Oviedo Film Music Live, has hired the services of Soundtracks Live! to put together their concert repertoire. The Orquesta Sinfónica Oviedo Filarmonía and Coro de la Ópera de Oviedo, conducted by Óliver Díaz, will perform a program called ‘Stars of Film Music’ showcasing one piece each from the 16 most prominent film composers active today.

Marco Beltrami hires Soundtracks Live! to prepare concert

October 16, 2014 Soundtracks Live! recently provided arranging and music preparation services to Hollywood composer Marco Beltrami to be featured in a concert devoted to his music at the Middleburg Film Festival on November 1, 2014. The Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra performs under the baton of Jan Wagner. Soundtracks Live! did new arrangements of concert suites from Beltrami’s scores for World War Z, The Homesman and The Giver as well as new concert versions of themes from Snowpiercer, The Woman in Black and A Good Day to Die Hard.

Soundtracks Live! contributes Film Symphony repertoire

September 19, 2014 The Film Symphony Orchestra of Valencia, Spain, recently hired Soundtracks Live! to research and provide various film scores for a huge outdoor concert at Plaza de Toros de las Ventas in Madrid on September 26, 2014. The FSO is conducted by Constantino Martínez Orts.

Soundtracks Live! produces three Córdoba concerts

June 12, 2014 The International Film Music Festival of the Region of Córdoba, Spain, continues its fruitful relationship with Soundtracks Live! artistic director Mikael Carlsson. Soundtracks Live! produced three symphonic concerts for the festival for its third edition, which also marked the festival’s ten year anniversary (the event was held in Ùbeda for the first seven years): Best of the Best (featuring music by Elmer Bernstein Award-winning composers Abel Korzeniowski and Rolfe Kent, as well as Craig Safan, Debbie Wiseman, Toshiyuki Watanabe, Christopher Lennertz, Nani Garcia and Sergio Moure), Best of Television (featuring themes from series such as Downton Abbey, Supernatural and Revolution as well as a newly constructed Doctor Who Symphony) and Best of the Year 2013-2014/A Tribute to Jerry Goldsmith.
